Chili Pulp

Process Requirement–
Twice a week a hot sauce manufacturer receives a 10,000 gallon truckload of chili peppers suspended in water.

They need a method to verify the truck scale tickets as well as improve inventory records but truck scales would be very expensive and most flowmeters would have problems measuring the pepper slurry.

Solution–
The Sparling Tigermag EP with Optional Batcher

  • Obstructionless - no moving parts - no maintenance - minimal pressure drop
  • ±0.5% NIST certified accuracy to verify truck scale tickets and improve inventory record
  • Backlit display easily read at night
  • Pulse output to an additional resettable totalizer allowed operators to reset individual truck load totals without bothering the inventory count
  • Meter only requires 3 diameters of unobstructed pipe upstream and 1 diameter downstream making it easy to find a place to install it

Sparling Tigermags have been used by many breweries in applications such as:

• Boiler Feed Water
• Green Beer (Ruh to Storage)
• Water Usage to Finishing Cellars
• Finished Beer Blending

Why Tigermags?
  • Programmability
With Mag-Command you never have to open the enclosure to program your meter, protecting sensitive electronics from environmental damage.

Software menus in plain English lead the user easily through the programming process - no obscure codes to learn!

  • Interchangeability
Transmitter electronic modules can be exchanged between units. Meter sensors can be interchanged (as long as liner, electrode materials and flow ranges are compatible). Reconfiguration is a snap with Mag-Command!
  • Ease of Unit Selection
Gallons, liters, cuft, cubic meters or user defined - it's up to you!
  • Multiple Outputs
  • 4-20mA output for rate -
  • Pulse for your totalizer -
  • Open collector to drive other instrumentation
  • Optional HART(R) Protocol
  • NEMA-4X
NEMA-4X withstands washdown and weather.

Process Requirement–
An orange juice producer was planning a highly visible expansion of orange juice pulp feed at their facility. Their current measurements were mechanical with visual observations. This was slow and resulted in "off-spec" product.
Solution
Sparling Tigermag with Optional Hart Protocol and FDA approved liners

Sparling delivered seven remote mounted magmeters two (2) weeks ARO. By automating their process the client saved over $500,000 a year by minimizing "off-spec" product, improving accuracy and expanding throughput.

  • Pulping of oranges takes place in the four vessels (A-D).
  • Fresh oranges are split into halves then fed into these vats/vessels. Juice and pulp forms in these vats.
  • A suction pump is used to pull the process (juice/pulp) through valve CV-1 and the magmeter FE-1 and provide process feed to three chill hold tanks (each having an input control valve labeled SV-1-SV-3.
  • A communications port on FE-1 (Tigermag) transmits data via Hart protocol to the host computer where electronic batching occurs.
  • At the predetermined point (pre-set volume in the chill tank) the computer switches from a valve (SV-1, SV-3) and begins the batching all over.
